Thrissur is the cultural capital of Kerala, popularly known as God’s own country. Celebrations that happen in this city are well known and attract people around the globe. Thrissur Pulikkali (Tiger Play) is the second biggest in this place after Thrissur Pooram. Similar to Pooram, Pulikkali has also a history of more than 200 years and was started by our beloved king, Rama Varma Kunhjipilla Thampuran (1751–1805) popularly known as Sakthan Thampuran. This festival is celebrated on the last day of Onam and multiple teams compete on Swaraj Round, the center of this city. Millions of people participate in this celebration as the colorfulness and rhythmic dance movements, make it a memorable event and help them to live through another year on memories until next Onam.
Ayyanthole Desam Pulikkali Samghataka Samithi was founded in 2016. Though members from Ayyanthole Desam were actively participating in the various sectors of Thrissur Pulikkali, as a united team Ayyanthole Desam was never able to perform there. Additionally, 2016 was the 60th consecutive year of Pulikkali performance from Chathunni Ashan, a veteran Pulikkali artist hailing from Ayyanthole. When these two reasons are combined, people from all layers of society are united for a common cause, Ayyanthole Desam Pulikkali Samghataka Samithi was born. In the first year itself, Ayyanthole Desam became the most popular team of Thrissur Pulikkali. For the first time in the history of Pulikkali Ayyanthole Desam introduced a woman artist in Pulikkali, reinstated the lost Ulakka Puli, and also included two European BBC media reports as Puli artists in the team. After Pulikkali, AyyantholeAyyanthole Desam Pulikkali Samghataka Samithi got involved in various social services in the Desam. Free PSC Coaching, Blood Donations, Charity works, Joint awareness campaigns with Police Department, Excise Department, Indian Railway, and Palliative care organizations. In 2017 Ayyanthole Desam Pulikkali Samghataka Samithi become the overall champion of Thrissur Pulikkali. In 2018 when a devastating flood hit the state of Kerala, Ayyanthole Desam Samithi was the first to declare its withdrawal from the participation of that year. All efforts were then diverted to flood rescue and relief on a district-wide scale. This work was widely appreciated by the common public and Governmental authorities as well.
In 2019 Pulikkali Ayyanthole Desam Pulikkali Samghataka Samithi retained its overall championship in Thrissur Pulikkali. In 2020 when the whole world came to a standstill during the Covid pandemic, Ayyanthole Desam conducted Virtual Pulikkali by combining the performance of 24 Puli artists through Zoom meeting application and telecasting this feed live through Facebook. These artists were playing at their homes and were keeping complete Covid protocol. Later Facebook research team found out this was the best socio-cultural activity conducted using social media during the pandemic. The Facebook team then created an advertisement film on this and spread it through their platforms. In 2021 also public activities were banned and this time Facebook crew did the live telecast of Pulikkali of Ayyanthole Desam through facebook's official page. When 2022 came, Ayyanthole Desam conducted Pulikkali with Onam celebration and came up with more trophies than 2017 and runner-up position in Thrissur Pulikkali.
Now Ayyanthole Desam is about to launch a big initiative called Svanthana Hastham for a wider scope of charity activities. Desam has also initiated a process of transforming Thrissur Pulikkali into an international event which is under the approval process of concerned authorities. Apart from all these activities, Ayyanthole Desam conducts Pulikkali processions throughout the year in various places for the promotion of this folk art.

Ayyanthole Desam Pulikkali Samghataka Samithi is involved in various social services in Desam. Since 2017 we have started free PSC Coaching for students and which has made many students Government Employees. Our 24 X 7 Blood Donations have already helped 100's of patients in need. We are conducting charity services for medical help, educational loans/scholarships, and homeless people. We organize Joint awareness campaigns on various topics with Police Department, Excise Department, Indian Railway, and Palliative care organizations.
Now Ayyanthole Desam is about to launch a big initiative called Svanthana Hastham for a wider scope of charity activities. Desam has also initiated a process of transforming Thrissur Pulikkali into an international event which is under the approval process of concerned authorities. We are also planning to launch an Ambulance service soon for helping the poor who can not afford to have such a service.
